Name: Joan Diehl

Alternate Email Address: [email protected]
Born in Topeka, Kansas, I am a graduate of Topeka High School and Washburn University. I am a member of Zeta Tau Alpha national sorority and the Topeka High School Historical Society. I am also on LinkedIn and the WAE network for Writers, Agents and Editors. I live in Madison, Alabama, with my husband, Glen, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel. We have five children and 18 grandchildren, one of whom is deceased.
My desire to become a writer lay dormant until my senior year at Topeka High School, when I enrolled in a journalism class. I probably learned the most about writing years later, when I became editor of a weekly newspaper in Madison, Alabama. Eventually, I retired and took a break from writing. Until one day, my daughter Alison discovered that I had kept a diary during her father's service in the Vietnam War. She encouraged me to convert the diary into a book. As a result, Once Upon a War - The Diary of a Waiting Wife is now available from https://hellgatepress.com/joan-diehl/once-upon-war, https://www.amazon.com/author/joandiehl, and www.barnesandnoble.com My website is: joandiehlauthor.com
